Job Description
MBS Professional Staffing is currently recruiting for a Controls Engineer in Cincinnati, OH. ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Design, Startup and Commissioning of robotic palletizing and de-palletizing systems.
- Developing additional robotic material handling software applications.
- Supporting troubleshooting efforts of customer service representatives.
- Performing robotic simulations.
- Developing upgrades, add-ons, and improvements for our existing robotic systems.
- Additional responsibilities will include supporting and interfacing with conveying equipment throughout system design, installation, and commissioning.
DEVELOPMENT SKILLS:
- Produce functioning software code that meets the requirements of the application.
- Develop robot I/O requirements for full integration with assistance of controls engineers.
- Design experience and knowledge of one or more of the following robotic platforms: Fanuc, ABB, Motoman, Kawasaki.
ROBOTIC PROGRAMMING SKILLS:
- Demonstrable experience in writing computer programming languages, for example: C or C++, Java, Pascal, Scripting (javascript, VB script, Lua, etc.).
- Experience or willingness to rapidly learn robot controller specific programming languages such as: TPP, BASIC, and Karel.
- Any other real-time or motion programming languages.
- General knowledge of PLC based control systems used in robotic work cells.
- General knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet, PROFINET, EtherCAT, PROFIBUS, DeviceNet).
- An advantage would be knowledge of PLC software packages such as AB RSLogix, Siemens Step-7, Siemens TIA Portal, Simotion Scout, etc.
- Perform reach studies using simulation software.
- Perform cycle time analysis using simulation software.
- Assist with risk assessment in accordance with ANSI RIA standards.
- Remote and local troubleshooting for robotic programming, including vision systems.
- Commissioning (startup) of robotic systems.
- Factory Acceptance Testing of robotic systems and robotic handling/transfer systems.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Technical Associates Degree with relevant experience or related fields.
- Demonstrates a working knowledge of software programming ability to reach milestones and to complete projects.
- Must have good communication skills, internally and with customers. This includes writing understandable and correct code comments and function names.
- A detail-oriented problem solver who strives to identify root cause.
- Ability to learn and adapt in to a rapidly changing field. Seeks out new knowledge to complete task at hand.
- Less than 25 percent travel can be expected to support installation startup/support requirements.
